Wash n’ Rolls: Charity Car Wash Day with Rotech!

2 minutes

On Saturday 20th July, Rotech Machines held a charity car wash with all proceeds going to Isabel Hospice. We had an amazing group of volunteers, from members of the Rotech team to the friends and family of said employees. We had a total of 12 volunteers throughout the day, 20 cars washed over the 5 hours we were open with an amazing out come of £502.81.

This successful day consisted of everyone arriving at work for 8am (earlier than our usual start on a weekday!). We had a BBQ, rain, manic rushes when waves of people arrived and even children as young as 2 helping to dry the cars…

A massive thank you to Tony from Tims Dairy for the generous donation and delicious yogurts, and to those at Autoglym for supplying us with high quality equipment.

It was a day to remember, and we look forward to doing so much more fundraising. Our Just Giving page is still taking donations, we appreciate any help:

  • “I loved hearing about the Car Wash - the day sounded so amazing, you all did so well and whilst having fun. Thank you all for all your £502.81 that you have given to us, we are so grateful”

Who are Isabel Hospice?

At Isabel Hospice they believe that everyone has the right to outstanding palliative care, regardless of their circumstances. Fundraising helps them continue to provide this to patients and their families in eastern Hertfordshire.

Thanks to donations like ours, in the last year they have seen an increase in all their services: their Family Support Team provided emotional support and counselling to 540 patients, family members and children. (Children’s counselling is up 36% this year.) The In-Patient Unit saw an increase of 11% in admissions and continued to welcome many patients who stayed with them for symptom control and end of life care.  Not all their patients come into the In-Patient Unit, most chose to stay at home and the Hospice at Home team cared for 410 patients who chose to receive their treatment in their own homes.
